INDS 4501 is designed for senior industrial design students to conduct self-initiated and self-led thesis projects through critical research and design processes to produce effective design solutions reaching a professional quality. A thesis project should develop a user desirable, technically feasible, and business viable design solution with appropriate communication and presentation skills. In addition to traditional design deliverables of prototypes, this course requires thesis writing that documents the research and design development systematically. Sex related media can be intimidating to women who want to explore their sexualities as they are often bulky, hot pink & metallic, and not catered for women. In my research I conducted a survey of 78 women, with 95 percent of these women reporting experiences of unwanted sexual attention. Of these who said yes, 80 percent reported these instances have affected their relationships with sex in some ways. And when asked what can feel intimidating, sex toys were the highest check category, followed by exploration of own body, then the internet. This is vibes, a sex toy that allows for women to explore their sexuality on their own accord vibes allows for interchangeable texture to be able to further explore what might and might not work for the user.
Hermann Park Play is an interactive physical and digital system that reconnects people and their city parks. The platform and signage duo integrates historical knowledge, facilitates community interaction, and tackles the park-specific issues of maintenance and navigation. Houston’s Hermann Park serves as a case-study for sparking adventure and responsibility in regular park-goers.

Kinder Air
Kinder air provides fitted sealed silicone masks with a N95 filter for children who live in areas with high pollution or areas susceptible to wildfire smoke. The masks are designed based off of children's facial dimensions and proportions. Parents can use the Kinder Air app to scan their child's face and then order a mask that they can be confident will fit their children. Parents can also track the pollutants captured by the pollutant sensor that can be attached to the mask, as well as order new filters, and track filter and sensor life.
Project Description: Aura is a pair of smart earphones that protect the users ears from damaging levels of sound while also providing a top of the line audio experience. Accompanied with the Aura app that allows for the user to perform a hearing test and customize all of their listening preferences. Aura also comes with a wireless charging case for on the use and extended battery life.
Smart Kick is the smart mirror tool designed to sense athlete’s movement and give immediate feedback to athlete’s while in training. This design concentrates on the improvement of training process for an upcoming tournaments, making it more efficient and accurate for martial artists to use. It helps them finding areas of improvement faster with the help of a set of wearables and an infrared camera.
The M-84 EDC Tactical Flashlight makes using a handheld flashlight with a handgun easier and more efficient. When holding a flashlight, you lose the full function of your support hand, decreasing recoil management and firearm manipulation. The M-84 solves these issues by providing refined retention solutions that allow the flashlight to be used more efficiently than other solutions on the market.
Voyage is a 2 part system designed to introduce kids to various cultural foods. The first part is a package with the ingredients to make a cultural dish. The packaging introduces a character for each country and has an AR mat for a virtual cooking lesson. The second part is an app that further teaches children about the country the dish is from.
Tribe is a design that involves an app and a physical product - a breast pump. The application lets the mother have all her possible support needs in 1 place and pairs with the breast pump to simplify the pumping experience. The app allows the mother to track herself but has an emphasis on positive feedback rather than making her feel bad for not reaching a goal. The pump has a top-down interface that is more intuitive than what is on the market and the milk quantity data transfers from the pump to the app automatically. Together the app and pump empower the mother to prevent mental health disorders but the pump is totally optional, making the app inclusive to all mothers.
Boa is a portable, versatile cold therapy machine that utilizes circulating cold water through a compression wrap to treat sore muscles, injuries, and reduce swelling. The flexible, conforming wrap allows for the user to administer the cold therapy treatment to multiple different areas of the body with one universal piece. The efficiency of the cooling technology, as well as the use of materials allows for Boa to be battery powered and more financially obtainable.
The average prosthetic hand costs between $10,000 and $30,000. 3D printing technology offers a way to make functional prostheses at low cost. However, current printed hand designs suffer from functionality and durability issues. Knack uses flexible thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) to create a simpler, more durable, and more functional affordable 3D printed hand.

Throughout the past decades, men have been shamed for wearing makeup or are seen as less masculine because of it. In the current market, the options available for men are hypermasculinized products that often scare them away because that is simply not who they are either. Puro Beauty’s Hi-Coverage Concealer Eraser was designed in order to combat gender norms and help eliminate the stigma around men wearing makeup.
Mix-Match is a toy set designed to help toddlers with autism develop fine motor and cognitive skills by gradually rewarding the child through a musical matching game. The toy set has various matching blocks that each time correctly matched adds on an instrumental or vocal layer to a song they know and enjoy, gradually building it up and getting them more motivated through the matching sequence as they hear the familiar beats and tunes. By incentivizing every action and game with various favorite sounds and songs, Mix-Match engages the child throughout playtime, building their cognitive, physical, and emotional skills.
