Mask Protocols
The University of Houston continues to encourage the wearing of face coverings, especially for individuals who are not fully vaccinated, but consistent with Governor Abbott’s May 18, 2021 and July 29, 2021 Executive Orders, face coverings are no longer required on campus.
Visitors to Campus
Visitors must conduct an exposure assessment prior to coming to campus by doing the following:
If you have not been fully vaccinated, ask yourself:
Within the past 14 days, have you have had “close contact” with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19, and with respect to that person:
You were within 6 feet for a “prolonged period of time” (currently considered to be at least 15 minutes)?
You provided them care at home?
You had direct physical contact (touched, hugged, or kissed them)?
You shared eating or drinking utensils?
They sneezed, coughed, or somehow got respiratory droplets on you?
Within the past 10 days, have you returned from international travel?
If the answer to any of the above questions is “yes,” you may NOT come to the University of Houston campus or any University of Houston facility, unless you are coming to campus to be tested for COVID-19 at the Lone Star Circle of Care testing site.
Additionally, if you test positive for COVID-19, you may NOT come to the University of Houston campus or any University of Houston facility until you have completed the appropriate isolation period per CDC guidelines.
Other Considerations
An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and people with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.
By visiting attending the UH IDesign Conference, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. Any individuals who are sick or experiencing symptoms of illness should not participate. Immunocompromised and high-risk individuals should consider virtual attendance.
Hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the event space. Good hand hygiene, including frequent hand washing and hand sanitizing, should be followed by visitors before and during visits to the University of Houston campus.
